A new initiative offering programming to members of four neighborhood synagogues (The Community Synagogue, Port Jewish Center, Temple Beth Israel, and the Reconstructionist Synagogue of the North Shore) ages 55 and above.
We are hoping these programs give you fun and exciting new ways to connect to your synagogue community. The Shalom Synagogue Village also provides the opportunity to meet and foster new relationships with members of other local synagogues, further deepening your connection to the synagogue community and the greater Port Washington area.
New programs are being added regularly. Please check back with us.

Reading a play aloud around a table brings out qualities you just can’t get by reading it silently by yourself. The play we’ll start this year with is Indecent by Paula Bogel. We’ll discuss the work as little or as much as the group desires. Our goal is to enjoy the play as a piece of theater, not as a literary text. Please bring a copy on the play to our first meeting. Sources for free ones can be found online.
The group will be led by Marilyn Oser, a member of TBI.

NEW – GARDENING GROUP
A few people in our Shalom Synagogue Village have expressed interest in participating in a Gardening Group, a forum for discussing experiences in starting or cultivating a garden, either for ornamental purposes or to grow produce for one’s own use, or in order to participate in Plant A Row’s project to feed needy families in Port Washington.
We envision the group beginning virtually over the winter on Zoom, and possibly progressing to in-person meetings, either in one another’s gardens or at a central meeting spot.
Please respond to one of the co-chairs (names and emails at the bottom of this newsletter) to indicate your interest in participating.
We will need a volunteer to coordinate the group and possibly to coordinate any collection of produce for Plant A Row if the group decides to move in that direction. Please indicate whether you would be willing to lead such a group. Thank you very much.
