Giving Tuesday Message from Our Co-Presidents

In Judaism, there are many prayers and blessings to be recited. The prayer, Modeh Ani, is the first prayer of the day, meant to be recited after waking up, before any morning routines to start the day. This prayer is meant to acknowledge the blessing it is to wake up to a new day, live our lives, and have the opportunity to express our gratitude for another day. We are just past Thanksgiving, a time to come together with family and friends to share a meal and express gratitude for one another and the blessings in our lives.

A blessing that we all share is to be members of the RSNS community. There is so much to be grateful for in having a Jewish home where all are welcome and supported by our amazing Clergy and incredible staff who give of themselves tirelessly to support us on our Jewish journey. Giving Tuesday is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving designated as a day of giving back, a time to show generosity. We hope that you will support RSNS when you are considering where to make donations.

At our most recent congregational dinner where we welcomed our new members, there were a range of families of all ages who have chosen to join our community. The overriding theme was that people join RSNS because they feel the warmth of our community and are embraced from the moment that they begin to learn about the synagogue. We have an incredible new website, thanks to Cantor Eric, Matt Harris and others that encapsulates so much of our vibrancy. There are so many ways to participate whether it be at services, volunteering on committees, learning opportunities and an array of programs.

So, on this special day of giving tomorrow, December 3, when you wake up, think about the many blessings in your life and how our community has been a part of the special moments of your Jewish journey. We are grateful to be able to guide our congregation during these uncertain times. Your donation will continue to support our sacred Jewish community at RSNS and we truly appreciate your generosity.
