Israeli Arabs and JewsCan They Coexist?
If Yes, How?
Forsan Hussein is going to be our guest speaker at RSNS on Friday, March 28th at 8 p.m. His talk will address Arab-Jewish relations inside Israel. Forsan Hussein currently works as a Communications Associate at The Abraham Fund Initiatives, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting active coexistence between Arab and Jewish citizens of Israel.
Mr. Hussein is a Palestinian Israeli (Israeli Arab) born and raised in Sha’ab village located in the Galilee area of Israel. He attended Brandeis University after receiving the Slifka Coexistence Scholarship, a full scholarship awarded to one Palestinian-Israeli and one Jewish-Israeli committed to the goals of peaceful coexistence between the two peoples. At Brandeis, he majored in Peace-building, Sociology and Economics and also has a minor in Near East and Judaic Studies.
For fourteen years Mr. Hussein has been affiliated with several organizations working to build bridges between Arabs and Jews in the Middle East. Since the age of 10 he has been involved with Shemesh (an organization that promotes coexistence in the Galilee), first as a camp participant, and more recently as a coordinator for joint Jewish/Arab summer camps.
Mr. Hussein’s efforts have covered by NPR, WBUR, the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, the Jerusalem Post, Hope Magazine, New England Cable News, Channels 56 and 7 in Boston, and other media sources.
