Three More Talks On Reconstructionism
at Friday Night Services
As we have grown, many have joined RSNS not out of a commitment to Reconstructionist Judaism per se, but to the way Reconstructionist philosophy is manifested. Though few have read the weighty tomes of Mordecai Kaplan, many have been attracted to our community’s non-hierarchal, intellectually open, playful, relaxed, process-driven profile. Though unidentified as a system, many rejoice in what distinguishes us from other synagogues, which could be summed up in the principles of Reconstructionist Judaism.
To understand these distinctions ideologically, Lee Friedlander will offer three more talks on Reconstructionism in the course of Friday night services as follows:
- March 21: The Place of Jewish Law and Ritual in Reconstructionist Judaism.
- April 25: Who is a Jew? A Reconstructionist Definition.
- May 16: Women and Judaism: Three Case Studies in the Life Cycle.
Each of these presentations will take place in the course of services. Note: Attendance at any given talk is not dependent on any previous talk.
