Gan Shalom, the nursery school of the Reconstructionist Synagogue of the North Shore, offers classes for two, three and four year olds, Mommy and Me classes and a non-sectarian seven week summer program. Our nurturing environment combines the best of early childhood practices with Jewish holiday and Shabbat experiences. The unique nature of the Gan Shalom Nursery School program welcomes parents into our classrooms and forges a strong relationship between families and the synagogue. Our cooperative environment encourages parent participation in our classes. How special it is for a child when his or her own parent is in the classroom! Parents and grandparents are also invited to participate in regular synagogue programs.
Each day, the enthusiastic, experienced teachers of Gan Shalom Nursery School greet children who are eager to work and play. Our high quality early childhood program provides age appropriate materials and hands on learning experiences in a safe, relaxed atmosphere. The rich and enthusiastic introduction of early positive Jewish experience encourages the development of a strong Jewish identity. We serve families from Manhasset, Port Washington, Great Neck, Roslyn and surrounding areas.
Our Come Play With Me class begins in January and is a once a week program for children 13 months - 24 months. Together with a parent or caregiver the children play, paint, paste, sing and share snack .
Our toddler program meets 2 or 3 days a week and is a separation program. The children continue to learn through socialization and play experiences .
Our three’s program meets 5 days a week from 9:15 - 12:15. Our optional Lunch Bunch Program extends the day for our three year olds until 1:15 several times a week.
Our extended day fours program meets 5 days a week . Children attend for 4 or 5 hours per day. Our optional after school programs are also available for our four year olds.
Our non-sectarian summer program meets four or five days a week for seven weeks. It includes Come Play With Me and classes for 3 year olds and classes for four year olds.
