Shabbaton

A PRESIDENTIAL VISIT FROM RABBI DEBORAH WAXMAN – May 11/12

We will celebrate our College and our Movement at the synagogue the second Shabbat in May.  Rabbi Deborah Waxman, the president of our rabbinical college and the head of Reconstructing Judaism will be with us for the weekend.  Please note the schedule of events:

Friday Night Services.  Rabbi Waxman will address us in the course of the service about the present state of our movement, and college.  As always, there will be time for conversation following her remarks.

Saturday Morning Torah Study.  Rabbi Waxman will lead us in an hour-long study of the week’s Torah portion as part of our Shabbat morning B’Yahad program from 9:00 to 10:00.

A Panel Discussion on Reconstructionism.  A panel composed of Rabbi Lee, Rabbi Waxman and Solomon Hoffman representing three generations of Reconstructionist Jews will field questions.  A light lunch will follow, which will allow for individual conversations with Rabbi Waxman.

Plan to be with us for some or all of this important Shabbaton.  Note too: Reconstructing Judaism will hold a North American convention in Philadelphia the second week in November.  This will be a great opportunity to meet with other Reconstructionist Jews for study, congregation building, conversation, and singing and eating.  We will forward information about this very special weekend as it comes.
